The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Lagos State, has urged the federal government and political parties to sustain dialogue in addressing the challenges confronting the nation.

The Lagos State IPAC chairperson, Temilola Akinade, made the call in an interview with journalists on Sunday while reacting to Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Ms Akinade said continuous dialogue between government and political parties is necessary to strengthen democratic engagement and promote good governance.

“IPAC calls for continuous dialogue between government and political parties in addressing the challenges facing our nation.

“All political parties and stakeholders must support peaceful democratic engagement, national unity and good governance.

“At 66, Nigeria remains a nation of immense potential, and we must work together to build a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Nigeria,” she said.

The IPAC chairperson said the council welcomed the President’s renewed focus on moving the country from economic reforms to shared prosperity.

She said the emphasis on job creation, food security, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and support for vulnerable citizens was important to the nation’s development.

Ms Akinade, however, said the success of the reforms should ultimately be measured by their impact on the daily lives of Nigerians.

“The success of these reforms must ultimately be reflected in the daily lives of Nigerians through reduced cost of living, increased employment opportunities, improved security and better access to essential services,” she said.

She urged the government to remain responsive to citizens’ concerns and deepen engagement with political parties and other stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to the country’s challenges.

Ms Akinade expressed optimism that collective commitment to peace, unity and inclusive development would help unlock Nigeria’s potential.
