The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declared Morocco the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final after its appeal panel forfeited Senegal’s win in the game.

This followed an appeal filed by the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) seeking to be declared the victor of the final, won 1-0 by Senegal, citing Senegal’s decision to temporarily walk off the field following a controversial penalty awarded to Morocco in the final minutes.

Earlier this month, the CAF Disciplinary Committee rejected a petition filed by Morocco, prompting the North African country to appeal the decision.

In a ruling issued on Tuesday, the appeal panel sided with Morocco and declared the Atlas Lions the winner of the AFCON.

“The CAF Appeal Board decided that in application of Article 84 of the Regulations of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Senegal National Team is declared to have forfeited the Final Match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 (‘the Match’), with the result of the Match being recorded as 3–0 in favour of the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF),” the ruling read.
