Justice ministry, security agencies partner to end insecurity in Benue

The attorney general and commissioner of justice and public order in Benue, Fidelis Mnyim, has called for more synergy between the ministry and security agencies to end insecurity in the state.
Mr Mnyim made the call on Friday during a working visit to the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) commands in Makurdi.
He said that the collaboration would ensure effective policing and adequate security across the state.
He said the state government was committed to maintaining public order, adding that it was expedient for all security agencies to work with the government to make the state safe.
According to him, the ministry’s mandate is to ensure justice, peace and order in the state, which can only be achieved through synergy with security agencies and other stakeholders.
“Creating synergy would provide superior intelligence to security agencies to professionally react to any issue of security concern.
“The need for inter-agency collaboration is for the overall benefit of Benue’s peace and security and building of mutual trust,” he said
In his response, the Commissioner of Police in the state, George Chuku, promised to ensure a cordial working relationship with the ministry to make the state crime-free.
Also, the NSCDC Commandant, Yakubu Ibrahim, pledged to work together to make the state safe for all.
They both commended the commissioner for the initiative, saying it would help to tackle terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, religious crisis, farmers-herders crisis, cultists clashes, and other criminal activities in the state.
