Many casualties recorded in Abuja multiple auto crash

Many casualties have been recorded in a multiple auto crash in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
At least seven vehicles and a motorcycle were involved in a road crash on Wednesday morning near Karu bridge, Nyanya.
Vehicle inspection officer Veronica Dapel explained that the multiple road crash occurred while security officials tried to evacuate a truck that fell on its side.
“The trailer contained canned drinks and bags of rice. So, while we were clearing the things to clear the traffic, this (the multiple road crash) also happened behind,’’ Ms Dapel, from Nyanya command, said.
According to her, there was no death recorded, but many people sustained injuries.
“The injured ones have been taken to the hospital for proper medical attention,’’ added Ms Dapel.
A witness described the multiple auto crash as unfortunate. He stated that it gave rise to a traffic jam on the road.
“You can see our vehicle is also affected, thereby hampering our journey from Abuja to Jos this morning,’’ he said.
One of the auto crash casualty, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said she was grateful to God that she was still alive, noting that the crash happened in the twinkle of an eye.
She explained that the vehicles were coming from the Abuja metropolis, going towards Mararaba direction.
No fewer than eight vehicles were involved in the multiple auto crash, with a motorcycle crushed between a Toyota coaster bus and a truck.
The motorcycle rider sustained a severe leg injury.
