My administration completed 1,070 road projects in Funtua senatorial zone, says Katsina governor

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, says his administration has completed 1,070 road projects across Funtua senatorial zone to improve connectivity and support socio-economic development.
Mr Radda stated this on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the District Head of Funtua, Alhaji Idris Sambo-Idris, ahead of the presentation of his administration’s scorecard at the Tinubu-Dikko 2027 campaign flag-off for the zone.
He said the projects were part of his administration’s Building Your Future agenda, which focuses on infrastructure, education and other development interventions across the state.
He stated, “Nearly four years have passed since we first came to Funtua to seek your support. We made commitments to the people, and they also made commitments to us. Today, we are encouraged by the progress recorded.”
The governor highlighted the establishment of a university in Funtua and the construction and rehabilitation of roads as some of the major interventions undertaken by his administration.
He commended traditional rulers, community leaders and residents for their cooperation and support, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to sustaining development efforts within available resources.
Mr Radda also urged residents to pray for national unity and support President Bola Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
He listed the governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates among those seeking the electorate’s support.
Earlier, the District Head, Sambo-Idris, commended the state government for its road projects and other development initiatives, saying they had benefited Funtua and neighbouring communities.
The traditional ruler, however, appealed to the government to construct a bypass linking the outskirts of Funtua towards Kurami to divert heavy-duty vehicles travelling between Sokoto and Kano away from the town centre.
He said the volume of heavy-duty traffic passing through the town placed pressure on the road network, making the proposed bypass necessary to ease congestion and protect existing roads.
