NAFDAC destroys expired, banned medicines worth ₦100 billion in Oyo
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control on Saturday destroyed fake and unauthorised medicines worth ₦100 billion in Oyo State.
In a statement on it X handle on Sunday, NAFDAC said the medicines were confiscated in a market in Lagos State.
It read, “Yesterday, NAFDAC destroyed expired, falsified, controlled, unregistered, and banned medicines seized from the Idumota Open Drug Market during a recent three-week enforcement operation. The destruction took place at the Lapite Dumpsite in Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State, with the confiscated products valued at an estimated ₦100 billion.”
The agency also stated that several suspects were apprehended during the operation, adding that those found culpable would be prosecuted.
