Nigeria expands CNG network with new station in Karu
Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refuelling network has expanded with the opening of a new Rolling Energy CNG Daughter Station in Karu, Federal Capital Territory.
The facility, which opened on Friday, adds to the growing number of CNG refuelling stations across Nigeria as the federal government pushes to promote cheaper fuel for transportation.
The executive chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), Ismaeel Ahmed, led stakeholders at the opening ceremony.
Mr Ahmed said that “expanding the refuelling network will build confidence in switching to CNG-powered transport and will make fuel easier for Nigerians to get.”
The Pi-CNG & EV added that collaboration with operators such as Rolling Energy Limited remained important for building the infrastructure needed to support the wider use of CNG.
The Initiative said that continued investment in refuelling facilities would help Nigeria move towards a more sustainable transport system.
The opening comes as the government continues to expand CNG infrastructure across Nigeria. The new station will add to the growing network of facilities supporting the use of CNG as an alternative to conventional vehicle fuels.
