NOA condoles NAF, families of officers in crashed aircraft in Ondo

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has condoled with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the families of officers who lost their lives in the aircraft crash in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
According to a statement by the Deputy Director, Communication and Media of NOA, Paul Odenyi, in Abuja on Tuesday, the agency expressed its commitment to ensuring proper observance of the national flag in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of three days of mourning.
The Director-General of the agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the loss of the officers as a painful moment for the nation, noting that their service was marked by courage, conviction and unwavering commitment to Nigeria.
He stated that that their sacrifice would not be forgotten.
Mr Issa-Onilu said the fallen officers represented courage, discipline, patriotism and commitment to national service, stressing that their dedication to protecting the nation remained worthy of honour and remembrance.
In line with the President’s declaration of three days of national mourning and directive to fly the national flag at half-mast, he said the agency would intensify efforts to promote proper observance of the national flag during the mourning period.
The DG also noted that the national flag remained a powerful symbol of Nigeria’s sovereignty, unity and shared identity, urging citizens to observe the mourning period with the dignity and respect befitting the sacrifice of the fallen personnel.
He commiserated with the Chief of the Air Staff, officers and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, assuring them of the agency’s solidarity as they mourn their colleagues who paid the supreme price in the service of the nation.
The DG also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased officers, acknowledging the pain of losing loved ones serving the country and praying that God would grant them strength and comfort during this difficult period.
Mr Issa-Onilu also called on Nigerians to use the period of national mourning to reflect on the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and the responsibility of citizens to uphold patriotism, national unity and respect for symbols of the country.
He concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed officers and for God to grant their families, colleagues and the entire Nigerian Air Force the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The director-general reaffirmed NOA’s commitment to promoting national values, civic responsibility and proper respect for national symbols across the country.
