NOC president hails Omidiran’s appointment as FCC chairman

President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Ahmed Gumel has congratulated a veteran Nigerian sports administrator, Ayo Omidiran, on her appointment as Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Ms Omidiran was sworn into office on January 22, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Mr Gumel, in his congratulatory message signed by Tony Nezianya, spokesman for the NOC on Saturday, described Ms Omidiran as one of Nigeria’s sporting finest personalities.
He said her ascension to a top federal agency was an indication of the leadership quality found within the NOC and the Nigerian sports fraternity.
Mr Gumel said Ms Omidiran’s wealth of wisdom and administrative “know-how” made her suitable for the FCC job, adding that she was a dedicated proprietor of her own female football club, who invested in the next generation.
He stated, “I offer huge congratulations to Chief Ayo Omidiran on her prestigious appointment as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). She is a true veteran of Nigerian sports administration, with decades of experience in this national role.
“From her influential days as a member of the NFF Board to her transformative work as Chairperson of the Women’s Football Committee, Omidiran has been a tireless advocate for the beautiful game. The NOC family and the entire sports world stand tall as one of our own takes the lead in ensuring equity and progress for our nation. Cheers to a successful tenure for Ayo Omidiran.”
