OPay says its social impact programmes have reached more than 15,000 beneficiaries through education, innovation and women’s economic empowerment initiatives.

In a statement ‌‌on Wednesday, the company said it is leveraging technology, resources and partnerships to support education, skills development, innovation and economic inclusion in Nigeria.

It said its OPay Scholars Programme, which includes the National Innovation Challenge, OPay Futures programme and a 10-year scholarship commitment of N1.2 billion, had reached more than 1,200 direct beneficiaries.

According to the company, the National Innovation Challenge, implemented in partnership with Google and the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, supports young Nigerians with ideas and skills to address real-world problems.

OPay also said its Play4aChild initiative had supported more than 14,000 direct beneficiaries through educational materials and other interventions aimed at improving children’s learning experiences.

Under its Women Empowerment Programme, the company said more than 100 women had received skills development, capacity building and startup support to help them build sustainable livelihoods and become more financially independent.

It said the programmes reflected its approach to corporate social responsibility, focusing on creating opportunities and supporting beneficiaries beyond one-off donations.

According to OPay, its initiatives show how technology-driven companies can contribute to education, youth development, and economic empowerment alongside government, schools, and development organisations.
