People should report to my family if I renege on campaign promises: PDP Senatorial Candidate
Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), Ondo State Central senatorial candidate of the PDP, says there is a need to vote for well-informed people as members of Nigeria’s National Assembly in 2023.
The senior advocate of Nigeria said in addition to outstanding representation, he would be accessible to his constituency if elected in 2023.
“And if I do not represent them well, they can report me to my family because I am from the illustrious Elemo Family in Akure. I have a duty to hold the banner of the family without any stain,” he said.
Mr Adedipe said the legislation would favour Nigerians more if society began to ask questions about the quality of representation they got and what they ought to get.
“The NASS wields so much power that any constituency not well represented will lose out from dividends therein,” he said.
The PDP senatorial candidate, who explained that he delved into politics to give back to society, said, “there is a limit to what an individual can do to help the society.”
He lamented that society lacked quality leaders with the political will to improve the standard of living of the poor masses.
“You will agree with me that no individual, no matter how rich they are, can do what a well-run government will do for the masses,” he said.
According to him, there is no amount of wealth an individual can possess to be able to fix roads, build bridges, hospitals and stadia, among others, for the benefit of society without government intervention.
Mr Adedipe said it was high time society began to have people with ideas, people with altruistic reasons to be in government.
He said the national assembly, which was designed for lawmaking and others, needed well-informed legislators on board.
Mr Adedipe, who said there was a need for more federal government presence in the state, said it would be suicidal for the people to elect an incompetent candidate as representative.
He, therefore, urged the electorate to resolve and vote for the PDP in the senatorial, presidential and other elective positions in the forthcoming general elections
Mr Adedipe expressed confidence that the landmark achievements of the previous administration of the PDP, in both the state and county at large, would speak for it as a political party, given the reality on ground.
