Police arrest underage sons over murder of their mother

After a woman’s violent death in Spain, the 48-year-old’s two underage sons have been taken into police custody.
The woman’s body was found lifeless in the back of a car’s trunk on Wednesday evening in the northern region of Cantabria, authorities said.
The two siblings are 13 and 16 years old, the state television station RTVE and other media reported, citing investigative circles.
Since the younger son is under the age of 14, he cannot be held criminally responsible under Spanish law, the region’s Interior Ministry said.
The sons were reported missing on Wednesday before they were later found in a park and taken into custody, media reports said.
It was reported that their mother’s body was discovered with several wounds, and the head was covered with a trash bag. The incident took place in the town of Castro Urdiales.
The exact circumstances of the woman’s death and the discovery of the body remained undisclosed.
