The Niger State police command has announced the death of its former commissioner of police Diseye Nsirim.

Ms Nsirim died on September 21 after a brief illness.

This is contained in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on Tuesday in Minna.

The late Nsirim hailed from Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa and served as the 27th and first female CP in Niger State between 2012 and 2014.

She was a distinguished police officer and dedicated public servant who devoted her years of meritorious service to the nation.

Throughout her career, she demonstrated professionalism, courage, discipline, integrity and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property while she was the CP in Niger State.

Ms Nsirim contributed significantly to the maintenance of law and order, crime prevention and public safety.

This was most especially, dismantling the threat of Darul-Salam in Mokwa and the bursting of another terrorist group in Minna were some of the notable achievements under her watch.

The state commissioner of police, Adamu Elleman, on behalf of officers and personnel of the command, commiserated with the family, relatives, colleagues and associates of the deceased.

He said the command recognised the immense sacrifice and invaluable contributions of the late CP to policing in Niger  State and to national security at large.

Mr Elleman extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed that Almighty God grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
