In a new report, Microsoft disclosed that its assessment of Russia’s spring offensive in Ukraine shows that Moscow may include attacks on Kyiv’s cybersecurity.

In a report released on Wednesday, Microsoft claimed that a hacking group with ties to the Russian government appears to be preparing cyber attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure and government offices.

“Since January 2023, Microsoft has observed Russian cyber threat activity adjusting to boost destructive and intelligence gathering capacity on Ukraine and its partners’ civilian and military assets,” the report stated.

It noted that one group “appears to be preparing for a renewed destructive campaign.”

The assessment from Microsoft is deemed credible because the company’s predictions of impending cyberattacks in the years before the war were true to a significant extent.

It also implied that Russia’s cyber terrorists, many connected to the nation’s intelligence services, are resuming their efforts in the second year of the conflict.
