An international non-governmental organisation, Save the Children International (SCI), on Wednesday unveiled a “Back-to-School” advocacy campaign in Yola town, Adamawa State, to drive up pupil enrolment as academic activities resume across the state.

The campaign was conducted in collaboration with officials from the Adamawa State Ministry of Education and the Local Education Authority (LEA).

Speaking during the exercise, SCI Education Officer, Maryam Neol, stated that the initiative formed a key part of the organisation’s broader strategy to boost school enrolment and retention rates, particularly among vulnerable populations.

She said every child deserved access to quality education for them to prosper in life 

According to her, if they are educated, they will succeed in the future and contribute to the development of the state and the nation at large.

She called on stakeholders to do everything possible to promote school enrollment in their respective communities.

The School Base Management Committee (SBMC) Focal Person, Thomas Amos, who represented the ministry of education, also appreciated the SCI for their interventions.

He said the campaign was timely and called on the parents and guardians to complement their efforts by sending their children back to school for education development in the state.

The Education Secretary, Yola-South Local Government Education Authority, Abba Bawuro, called on the parents to enroll their children in time.

He such such a campaign was a reminder for them to discharge their responsibilities of educating their children.

The Executive Secretary, Mass Education Board, Maryam Daji, also appreciated SCI and the stakeholders for the campaign.

She solicited the support and cooperation of the stakeholders on the need to do more to ensure no children were on the street during school hours.

Mr Bitrus Batti, who represented Persons with Special Need, appreciated the SCI for their inclusion and assured to step down the message to their members to enroll their children.

Goodwin Geoppry of Children Parliament, expressed gratitude for being among those who carried out the campaign of ensuring “Every Child Goes to School.”

He thanked SCI for organising the campaign of ensuring “Every Child Deserves Quality Education.”

The campaign took off from Welcome to Yola, popularly known as Juppo Jam roundabout and terminated at Damare Primary School, Yola.
