Six persons have lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries in a road accident on the Kabba-Odo-Ape road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Kogi Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lawal Fagge, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview on Sunday.

Mr Fagge said the crash, which involved a truck and a commercial vehicle, occurred on Saturday afternoon.

He attributed the accident to speeding, saying residents of Odo-Ape helped rescue the survivors.

“It is unfortunate that six persons lost their lives, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries as a result of the tragic incident involving a truck and another vehicle along the Kabba-Odo-Ape Road.

“We will continue to advise motorists to avoid speeding, unnecessary overtaking and desist from driving while fatigued. This is very important in preventing road crashes,” he said.

The sector commander said the bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Kabba.
