Street Football: Maduka sweeps ₦10 million in explosive 1v1 Africa final
Kosisochukwu Maduka delivered a dazzling performance to win the 1v1 Africa Football Challenge, sealing a ₦10 million prize in Lagos on Sunday.
The fiercely contested final, held at Astro Soccer turf in Ikoyi, capped a tournament that attracted over 55,000 entries across Africa.
Organised by Afrobeats entrepreneur, Mr Eazi, the competition showcased elite street football talent in a high-stakes 1v1 format.
From thousands of hopefuls, 32 finalists advanced to the live stage, producing intense duels that thrilled fans and highlighted raw individual brilliance.
Maduka outclassed Michael Christopher in a gripping final, demonstrating composure and technical mastery to secure the coveted continental title.
Christopher, who impressed throughout, earned ₦5 million as first runner-up after a resilient and skilful campaign.
Both finalists embodied the flair and competitiveness central to 1v1 football, drawing admiration from spectators and organisers.
The event, co-hosted by Tekno, blended sport and entertainment, energising fans with a vibrant showpiece atmosphere.
Lead coordinator Mobike ensured smooth organisation for finalists, maintaining structure across the fast-paced and demanding tournament format.
Mr Eazi praised the participants, saying “All 55,000 applicants are the real reason this exists. The talent is out there; we simply created the stage.
“Maduka, you are a champion in every sense. Michael showed incredible heart. This is only the beginning for 1v1 Africa.”
He confirmed plans for a bigger edition, urging fans and players to stay connected for upcoming announcements and opportunities.
The initiative aims to elevate street football, offering visibility and rewards regardless of background or formal training.
Prize money extended across all rounds, with early exits earning ₦250,000, quarter-finalists ₦500,000, and semi-finalists ₦700,000 each.
A special ₦1 million bonus rewarded one semi-finalist, while the second runner-up claimed ₦2.5 million.
Goalkeepers were also recognised, with the best earning ₦1 million, followed by ₦500,000 and ₦250,000 for second and third, respectively.
