Mr Yari said the incoming Assembly needed a Senate President that was compassionate, honest, fair-minded and result driven.
The governors specifically wondered why a political zone would be favoured with two slots at the instance of others in the permutation carried out by the ruling party.
“You are calling for equity and fairness, but you decided to concentrate your votes for LP. Is there fairness in that?”
“Our intention in preferring an engagement with the executive based on harmony and collaboration has been to better serve Nigeria.”
“To avoid a replay of 2015 which slowed down governance for four years, the president-elect must tread cautiously for a smooth ride in the incoming administration.”
The North-West APC chairmen urged the newly elected senators to, without rancour or disagreement, rally around the choice of the president-elect.
APC in Niger has pleaded with the party’s national leadership to give the position of deputy Senate president to the state in the 10th National Assembly.
“The challenge before us is working in unison with the party’s leadership and the National Assembly over the election of their principal officers.
APC says it has yet to zone the incoming 10th National Assembly leadership positions as speculated in some quarters.
