“All the vehicles you see here were impounded based on traffic violations, most especially route violations,“ he said.
He said the directorate’s operatives were ready to enforce stringent penalties on road offenders, especially those with unroadworthy vehicles.
“The ban is in line with the world’s best traffic regulation practices,” the VIO official stated.
Mr Bello said the agency had conducted a series of engagements with dispatch companies and riders before arriving at the August deadline.
Stiff penalties await those who drive vehicles with faded number plates in the FCT.
