The Nigerian Cancer Society has called for the strict implementation and enforcement of the National Tobacco Control Act 2015 to curb rising tobacco use and nicotine addiction.
Mr Omonisi said many cancers are preventable or treatable if detected early.
“Childhood cancer is not a death sentence. No child should die due to a lack of funds,” said Ms Adekanye.
The federal government has allocated N1.3 billion to the CHF over the past four years, with N200 million earmarked for the fund in the 2024 budget.
According to Mr Omonisi, the recorded cases indicate an increase in childhood cancers in Nigeria, warranting prominence and attention.
