Mr Akinwumi said the university’s two hostels with a combined capacity of 500 occupants were empty.
This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance by Abubakar Fulata (APC-Jigawa) during plenary on Wednesday.
Mr Fulata begged the unions to give the committee time to meet with the relevant authorities on the issue.
“This has been a burning issue in both public and private institutions.’’
Mr Muntari said the committee would find further solutions to the challenges.
The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, said education was facing several challenges in the country.
“This kind of meeting is necessary considering the fact that it is a new government.’’
According to the report, the investigation by the committee began in 1991 to date with tax evasion running into trillions of naira.
The House of Representatives ad hoc committee on Joint Venture (JV) on Wednesday quizzed the Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd over alleged tax evasion.
Total and others are being accused of making claims of capital allowance from the government without the necessary certificate.
