The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics has suspended its planned nationwide strike following positive steps taken by the federal government to address the union’s demands.
The Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa, has resumed academic activities after months of lingering labour disputes that resulted in the institution being shut down.
The union leader said the 25/35 per cent arrears of salary review was yet to be implemented.
The union had, on October 7, issued a 15-day ultimatum to the federal government to meet its demands.
The 15-day ultimatum issued by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics to President Bola Tinubu’s government to meet its demands is set to expire on October 23.
The NLC had organised a mega protest in solidarity with the trade unions in the public universities over their lingering strike.
