NSCDC in Jigawa has reiterated its commitment to protect lives, property and critical national assets during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
CSC Adamu Shehu confirmed the arrest in Dutse, saying the suspects were also apprehended over the alleged theft of 30 ceiling fans.
The 22-year-old Jigawa man was arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle belonging to his father’s friend.
Some close associates of the deceased were reported to have told the NSCDC that he had a relapsing mental disorder.
According to the spokesperson, the victim, who looked “distressed and unkempt”, was locked in a room within the house for several years.
They connived and stole solar street lights batteries along Hadejia road, Gujungu town, put in place by the Jigawa State Ministry of Works to illuminate the town and provide security.
Mr Shehu said the cable was estimated to be worth N630,000, with each metre costing N9,000.
The APC flag bearer said the continuation of the Kolmani oil exploration was for the benefit of Gombe and North-East residents.
The man had taken the motorcycle to sell at Gujungu market when he was nabbed by NSCDC intelligence officers.
The deceased, Maimuna Hassan, 3, and Rabi Balarabe, 12, lost their lives on Sunday and Monday.
