He said Africa CDC was ramping up its response to mpox by expanding laboratory capacity, deploying rapid response teams, and intensifying vaccination campaigns.
Mr Ngongo, however, said that intensified efforts were underway to address the outbreak.

“This declaration is not merely a formality, it is a clarion call to action,” he said.
The Africa CDC was established in response to the West Africa Ebola outbreak in 2014.
Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) on Friday disclosed that 12 African countries have so far reported 1,782 cases of monkeypox.
South Africa has recorded the most COVID-19 cases in Africa with 3,654,824 cases, followed by Morocco with 1,158,145 cases.
It is estimated that about 10 percent of the adult population on the African continent are vaccinated.
