Mr Tinubu accepted Mr Ngelale’s reasons for the resignation, fully understood them and sympathised with the circumstances that led to his decision.
Mr Tinubu made the remark at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, China.
A statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said he arrived in China at about 9:00 a.m. local time on Sunday and was received by top Chinese government officials.
“The president prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased,” Mr Ngelale said.
Mr Ngelale said the President would meet chief executive officers of 10 major Chinese corporations.
He described Mr Zulum as an academic, visionary, reformist, and statesman.
The first-class traditional ruler passed away in the early hours of Sunday.
The statement noted that the President prayed for the repose of the soul of the elder statesman and solace to his family.
Mr Tinubu described Mr Bawa’s death as deeply disturbing.
Mr Ngelale said that the President expected the CMD to ensure efficient delivery of qualitative services to the citizens.
