A coalition of non-governmental organisations has called on the federal government to implement urgent sodium reduction measures in processed foods.
He said, “Nigerians consume far more salt than the WHO’s recommended daily limit of five grams, with most of the excess salt hidden in processed foods.”
“Frequent consumption of SSB is associated with increased incidence of dental cavities, tooth decay and obesity.”
“The sun hardly came out, but now we are experiencing climate change.’’
The groups want mandatory limits on the production and distribution of trans-fatty acid foods among local consumers in Nigeria.
The federal government has been asked to mainstream climate change as a subject in the educational curriculum.
