Ms El-Imam said that the initiative was part of a broader strategy to bolster the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
She said this was necessary in order to avoid viral infection.
Amina El-Imam, Kwara Commissioner for Health, said the training aimed to build the capacity of the members’ efforts to reduce maternal mortality rates.
Ms El-Imam emphasised the importance of breastfeeding and described it as the foundation of lifelong health and well-being for a child.
The commissioner explained that the screening would be conducted at various tertiary institutions, marketplaces and healthcare facilities in the state.
The commissioner noted that the safe birth kits enhance hygienic practices during delivery.
The commissioner highlighted the Kwara government’s collaboration with partners to ensure zero tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment costs.
The commissioner explained that the facility, often called ‘Omosebi’, is unknown to the Ministry of Health as a registered mortuary service provider.
