The Anambra High Court, Onitsha Division, on Thursday sentenced a man, Kosisochukwu Celestine, to death by hanging for kidnapping and armed robbery.
The court heard the incident occurred in July 2024, when the victim, the now-deceased Juliet Onabe, met the defendant while travelling from Onitsha to Ondo for business.
Recall that leaders of the Awka Diocese of the Anglican church petitioned the EFCC over the alleged unauthorised sale of church land by Mr Ibezim.
Counsel to the plaintiff told the court that the police arrested and detained his client between December 14 and December 28, 2022, without charging him to court.
