The governor said Mr Shettima directed NEMA to release the grains immediately, adding that states would be involved in the mechanism.
He also assured Nigerians would soon buy rice at a reasonable price.
The ex-lawmaker says he’s expecting a drastic reduction in the commodity’s price as soon as it hits the market.
According to Mr Hassan, Nigeria is the highest rice-growing country in Africa due to the federal government’s support.
“Most of the farmers are into the Anchor Borrowers Programme, and destruction of farmers’ lands by herders becomes a nightmare for them.”
