The Apapa command of the Nigeria Customs Service says it has seized 3,398 cartons of codeine syrub worth N3.39 billion.
Mr Wakawa said the 2018 UN Drugs Survey estimated that 14.3 million Nigerians between the ages of 15 and 64 had used drugs in the preceding years.
The Nigeria Customs Service says it generated N1.2 trillion as revenue between January and July 2024 at the Apapa command.
He noted that the command generated the amount in spite of a sharp reduction in trade volume.
“A breakdown of the seizures comprises prohibited goods such as used clothing, foreign parboiled rice, vegetable oil, tomato paste and others,” he said.
Mr Mohammed added that the service made 16 seizures worth N1.4 billion.
