He said that the police had made breakthroughs in its ongoing crackdown on crime.
The police said all arrested suspects had given confessional statements and assisted operatives in gathering more information to apprehend other criminals.
“Our GDP and CPI allow us to align with these transformations, providing a more precise and relevant picture of Nigeria’s economic landscape,” said the statistician-general.
Mr Ajayi said, “The first, second and third defendants gave confessional statements.’’
He said all the arrested suspects will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
The police, on July 29, 2024 paraded “two confessed kidnappers Ckukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday.”
The police said that out of the 178 suspects, 118 were arrested on July 7 for cult activities, being their day of celebration and initiation of new members.
The Ondo State Security Network Agency says it prosecuted at least 600 suspects for different crimes between January and June.
She said the commissioner of police in charge of the FCT, Benneth Igweh, led the operation that foiled the robbery attempt on June 13.
Mr Kiyawa said that the command’s robust crime prevention patrols led to the arrest of the suspects.
