He said that att about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, suspected armed bandits launched coordinated attacks on the two communities.
The police command in Katsina says it intercepted kidnap attempts by suspected bandits in Faskari and Danmusa LGAs.
The police spokesperson regretted that the assailants fatally shot one of the victims during the attack.
“Each of the families was presented with the gift of N500,000 as a token of appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice made by our fallen colleagues,” he said.
The state police spokesperson said that the bandits kidnapped three persons, rustled 23 goats, stole foodstuffs and valuables from the villagers.
Acting Governor Faruq Jobe has also banned gatherings and protests across the state.
“The suspects were arrested along Magama cemetery in possession of two rams, one sheep, and a goat, suspected to have been rustled,” the police said.
”We have found them and handed over their contacts to one of the security agencies for further investigation. But we have not heard anything from the securities,” said FUDMA.
The DPO mobilised and led security operatives to the scene and restored normalcy.
The CP commended the operatives for their exceptional display of bravery and gallantry.
