The police command in Gombe on Tuesday nabbed two men for raping a 13-year-old girl on a farm in Bajoga, Funakaye LGA.
The police spokesperson said so far the command had screened about 2,000 applicants.
“The Low-cost Division carried out an investigation which led to the arrest of Ms Manzo and other suspects.’’
Mr Usman said that he had directed early deployment of personnel to strategic locations, places of worship and other public places.
The police also reiterated the ban on unauthorised use of sirens, covering number plates and removing motorcycle silencers during Christmas and New Year.
“The spanner, blood-stained shirt, and knife were recovered from the scene as exhibits.”
One of the deadly robbers was neutralised with three arrested and six others on the run with suspected bullet wounds.
He said the suspected rustler was arrested following a report made to the police by the owner of the cattle, 75-year-old Jauro Ahmadu, on Tuesday.
Mr Abubakar said the suspects were arrested following complaints from some residents of Taraba who they allegedly scammed.
The police command in Gombe has arrested a 38-year-old teacher for defiling four pupils. The pupils, aged eight, nine, 12 and 14 years, are sisters.
