The federal government is set to arraign six suspected coup plotters. The case is listed as number 14 on Wednesday’s cause list before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.
Justice Ayo Emmanuel adjourned the case until March 18 to hear the motion of preliminary objection.
Mr Dagaci stated, “We stand in solidarity with the state government in this legal battle.’’
Justice Aderibigbe ordered the Osun State Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to conduct the elections across 30 local government areas.
He said the engagement also serves as a mechanism to receive feedback from all stakeholders for future improvements.
Mr Fagbemi said in his address that the arraignment of the younger protesters was within the confines of Nigerian law.
The former speaker also urged Mr Tinubu to initiate and transmit a one-item emergency executive bill to the National Assembly to enable INEC to conduct local government elections.
“The judgement is significant in restoring democratic principles and fostering national progress,” Mr Ajaero said.
“Also, we hope there will be financial integrity at the local government levels, and all financial transactions will be tracked,” said the NULGE boss.
“It is the result of a conscious effort, part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to decentralising power and empowering grassroots communities,” said Mr Olusegun.
