Bamidele Salam canvassed for financial and operational autonomy for Supreme Audit Institutions across Africa.
Mr Salam said some agency’s boards appeared too powerful and approved any amount as severance package for appointees.
Mr Salam said, “The financial regulation empowers the National Assembly to exclude any ministry, department or agency that fails to account for their previous appropriations.’’
The auditor-general for the federation, Shaakaa Chira, says improved funding is necessary to make the office perform effectively.
