The Benue Police Command has arrested six persons over alleged cult activities in the Guma Local Government Area of the state.
Ms Udeme stated that the students were rescued on Friday morning.
Mr Ehi noted that security agencies were working to ensure the safe return of the abducted passengers and driver.
Ms Edet said that during the invasion, security operatives engaged the attackers in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Ms Anene said the deceased was shot at about 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday outside his home on Otukpa Street, Otukpo, Otukpo Local Government Area.
“No fewer than 20 students were ambushed and kidnapped around Otukpo. They are coming from Jos,” said the Benue police spokesperson.
Chiahemba Sende, Shiekuma Akaajime and Msonter Kpakpa are facing charges for alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass and abduction at the Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The father said the fire had “surged covering the whole room where my kids were sleeping” and had burnt his face trying to save them.
The deceased was the owner of Euniland Bread, Makurdi.
