Mr Obi said it appears the ministry was established as a conduit to siphon public funds while using poverty alleviation as a cover.
“Nobody is too big to be investigated in this country.”
The call came after Ms Edu’s suspension following her request to the account-general of the federation to wire N585 million into a private account.
There have been several corruption investigations since President Bola Tinubu assumed power.
“I’m not a director. I resigned as far back as 2019 and CAC certified it.”
Ms Madein said Ms Edu flouted financial regulations by requesting that funds be wired into a private account.
Ms Edu, in a statement on her Facebook page on Saturday, said she was confronted with forces of corruption working against her mission.
Betta Edu has asked the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation staff to step up to meet President Bola Tinubu’s poverty reduction target.
“Mr President has already given us the mandate to pull 50 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 42 months,” said Ms Edu.
President Bola Tinubu says none of his appointees would be allowed to give excuses for non-performance in their duties and responsibilities.
