The Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation has enrolled 200 people with sickle cell disease in the state’s health insurance scheme.
The women were empowered with N50,000, wrappers, and handbags to stock their shops.
“Some of the inmates here have stayed for years because they do not have money to pay their fines,” he said.
The Commissioner for Health in Ebonyi, Moses Ekuma, has disclosed that the state has recorded 28 deaths and 386 cases since the cholera outbreak on September 24
“By working together, we can create a world where cervical cancer is not just treatable but preventable,” she said.
She said that the intervention was in line with the spirit of the Christmas season.
