The Lagos State Waterways Authority has launched Africa’s first ferry safety development and mentoring programme to enhance safety, efficiency and professionalism.
Governor Umo Eno says his administration is reviving maritime infrastructure in the state to grow the blue economy.
Deputy defence minister Bello Matawalle has assured the Nigerian Navy of the federal government’s continued support to strengthen the blue economy and promote national development.
Mr Oyetola said the collaboration would close Nigeria’s supply gap.
Mr Oyetola said interventions in marine infrastructure boosted non-oil exports by 18.6 per cent in the first half of 2025, underscoring the sector’s transformative potential.
“On Tuesday, shelling reportedly hit the market area inside the Abu Shouk camp, killing three civilians and injuring many more,” said Mr Dujarric.
He said Lagos has similar economic features as Guangdong.
Participation in the strategy and cross-sectoral collaboration is fostered through open dialogue in which rapporteurs from each group present their results.
He said the blue economy is not just about the sea, but also about the myriad of opportunities that lie within it.
