Troops of the Nigerian Army have dismantled kidnappers’ hideouts in Edo North senatorial district, apprehended 13 suspects and recovered arms, drugs and other incriminating items.
Bandits had attacked a Cherubim and Seraphim church on Sunday during service in Ejiba and kidnapped the pastor and several worshippers.
Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, deployed at the forward operating base in Oguma, on Sunday, rescued two victims abandoned by suspected kidnappers in Kogi.
“We will conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion.’’
Mr Omale said the troops made a breakthrough in the operation while acting on a credible, timely and reliable tip-off.
He also urged the officers to exhibit a high level of discipline and courage in the discharge of their duties at all times.
The commissioner was kidnapped on February 1 in the Mayne Avenue area, Calabar South.
A release on Tuesday in Calabar by Dorcas Oluwatope, a spokesperson for 13 Brigade, said the exercise would commence from October 5 to December 23.
