He stated that the suspects are in police custody while the investigation is ongoing.
Mr Edafe said the 35 victims, rescued on Monday in a hotel, included 23 teenagers.
The police spokesperson explained that the suspect “lures them by telling them that they are coming to Delta State to work as a sales girl in a restaurant.”
“We have arrested some suspects who specialise in robbing warehouses, churches and event centres,” the Delta police spokesperson said.
Mr Edafe said the police received a distress call that some suspected armed robbers were carrying out a robbery operation in the Aladja community.
“The sad incident, which occurred on Saturday, was reported at the division by the brother of the fleeing suspect.”
“Upon searching the suspects and the vehicle, a locally made cut-to-size gun and two live cartridges were recovered,” the command’s spokesperson revealed.”
The police spokesperson said it was not the first time of recording such an incident in Delta State
The police spokesman said the suspect confessed that “she committed the dastardly act because she could no longer take care of the baby.”
The police spokesperson said the police also nabbed a suspected robber and recovered a pistol from him.
