Italian police confiscated more than 130 million euros ($140 million) in a raid against the Mafia, the authorities said on Tuesday.
Authorities believed some 1,000 metric tonnes of special waste were coming from Naples.
Police estimated the drugs to have a street value of €800 million ($870 million).
According to initial information, the migrants were on a fishing boat, which broke apart in heavy seas, after which some drowned.
In total, the operation was directed against 86 people, 53 of whom were detained.
Mr Morabito was arrested in Uruguay in 2017after 22 years on the run but escaped from jail in 2019.
