Members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations have commended the rapid transformation of the Nigerian Railway Corporation under the leadership of Kayode Opeifa.
The NRC said the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS) will run three trips on Thursday, April 2, to meet the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.
He assured passengers of NRC’s continued commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient rail services.
He said three trips would run on March 20, 21, 22, and 23.
Many passengers were severely injured after a train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja derailed on Monday morning.
The service spokesperson said that two trips would continue to operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The NRC chief appealed to residents of communities hosting railway facilities to support the corporation.
Mr Opeifa said eight suspects were apprehended on July 11 for vandalising railway track components along the Sheme-Gusau rail corridor in Katsina State.
He said the resumption followed a critical review of the operational and technical situations.
