Mr Folorunsho said the operation denied criminals the use of the intercepted wooden boat for transporting illicit petroleum products.
The team also intercepted a silver Toyota Camry suspected of conveying illegally refined petroleum products.
Mr Folorunsho said, “The Nigerian Navy remains resolute in sustaining operations against illegal resource extraction and other maritime crimes.”
He said the site also showed clear indications of recent crude oil theft activity.
The naval spokesperson said that the arrest followed a joint intelligence-led operation.
Mr Folorunsho said the site, located along the Alakiri River, contained about 10 dugout pits cumulatively laden with approximately 45,000 litres of stolen crude oil.
He said the action followed credible intelligence.
