The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has rallied behind Pope Leo XIV after U.S. Vice-President James David ‘JD’ Vance publicly criticised the pontiff’s comments condemning war.
“Nigerians surely deserve better than what obtains at present,” said the bishops
The centre is known as the Justice, Development and Peace Caritas Initiative Skills Acquisition Centre.
The president commended the Catholic body’s commitment to education and healthcare.
The CBCN acknowledged the government efforts but noted concerns about the impact on its citizens.
“We, therefore, renew our call on all our faithful, laity and clergy alike, to come out en masse to vote for people of unassailable integrity.”
“They talk a lot, promise a lot, campaign a lot, but do very little concretely to eliminate hunger, insecurity, diseases, and all that we suffer from.”
“Together we need to muster the political will to drastically reduce these social ills in our nation,” the cleric said.
The National Assembly legislators are saboteurs, say Catholic bishops in Nigeria, accusing them of having “perfected the art of sabotaging” Nigerians’ progress.
The Christian leaders also called on the presidents to address the nation and stop communicating through unelected proxies.
