The Catholic bishops demanded mandatory real-time transmission of results from polling units to collation centres via BVAS and IReV to restore voter confidence.
The recent killings in Benue have sparked widespread public outcry, prompting President Bola Tinubu to visit the state in a show of solidarity.
“We wish to stress that as long as the nation is afflicted with poverty, hardship, and corruption…we must continue to reckon with protests,” the Catholic bishops said.
“Both church and government are aligned in our shared commitment of a brighter future for all Nigerians,’ said the SGF.
The bishops also condemned the practice of vote-buying and selling, noting that it is aimed at frustrating and compromising the people’s free choice
The bishops said that the 2023 general elections must be a hitch-free process.
