Mr Emefiele was suspended last week Friday and has been detained for investigation by the State Security Service.
He also requested that law enforcement agencies work with whistleblowers to solve crimes and retrieve stolen monies.
The instructions come just a few days after the Nigerian Labour Congress threatened to picket apex bank locations over the persistent cash shortage.
Force Spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi said this in a video posted on the NPF’s Facebook page Friday.
Some political parties had sought the order from the court, naming president Buhari, CBN, Godwin Emefiele and 27 banks as defendants.
Mr Emefiele said the CBN and other banks are working to address the difficulties but there will be no date extension.
The committee on Sunday rejected a two-week extension for the deposit of old naira notes announced earlier in the day by Mr Emefiele.
Two weeks ago, the CBN lowered the weekly over-the-counter cash withdrawal limit for individuals to N100,000 and for corporate organisations to N500,000.
The CBN governor urged Nigerians to embrace the various electronic channels available for banking and financial service transactions in Nigeria.
Central Bank governor Godwin Emefiele was also ordered to appear before the House by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
