Mr Abiodun is seeking a second term in office but has faced stiff opposition from residents and political rivals who say his performance over four years has been below par.
The commander described the policy as a positive step, adding that it has mitigated terrorists’ activities since its inception.
Mrs Buhari, an ally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, shared a fake press release attributed to CBN on her Instagram page on Tuesday.
Some of the customers urged the CBN to make an example of a bank to serve as deterrent to others.

The residents interviewed said that the extension of the validity of the old N200 note has brought some succour to them.
“This cup will pass. Any resort to violence will only cause more harm to the poor masses and struggling businessmen and women,” he said.
The council said the lack of adequate cash in circulation and the failure of the electronic banking services of commercial banks had no doubt caused severe discomfort among the people.
“As far as we are concerned, the release of the old N200 notes or the printing of new notes are not the real solution to the matter.”
The governor’s appeal came on the heels of protests by some state citizens at Orhuwhorun community where a bank’s ATM gallery was reportedly torched.
