Mr Dayo Adeyeye described Mr Emefiele as the “most controversial CBN governor” in Nigeria’s history.
The Zamfara Anti-thuggery Committee has begun clamping down on filling stations, markets and other business centres, rejecting the old naira notes.
“The design of N200, N500 and N1,000 will no longer be accepted as a legal tender after Friday 10 February 2023.”
Governor Rotimi Akeredou has sued the federal government over the limitation on daily cash withdrawals from banks, a policy introduced by the CBN.
“We passionately appeal to the public to consider the present situation a passing phase in our journey towards national prosperity.”
The CBN had initially set a January 31 deadline for the old notes and eventually extended it to February 10 following the continuous scarcity of the new notes.
The statement came as Nigerians continue to face excruciating pains and hardship over the scarcity of fuel and shortage of the newly redesigned notes nationwide.

The February 10 deadline to withdraw the old N200, N500 and N1,000 banknotes has caused chaos across Nigeria.
The officials were granted administrative bail on Tuesday.
