The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I area command, has seized 1,202 kegs of smuggled vegetable oil with a duty paid value of N120.2 million.
The area comptroller noted that the officers acted with remarkable courage and professionalism throughout the covert operations.
Mr Otunla emphasised the significance of Nigeria-Benin economic ties.
He stated that the command would continue to build a closer and more fruitful relationship with its neighbours.
The smugglers opened fire on customs officers after they impounded 40 bags of smuggled rice and 30 jerry cans of petrol hidden in a nearby bush.
